Are You a Pitta Person? Signs, Nature and Cooling Tips
In English
Meet the Pitta Type
Do you know someone who is sharp, organised, always hungry at mealtime, and gets angry quickly? They are probably a PITTA person. Pitta is the fire energy of the body, and these people carry a lot of inner heat.
How a Pitta Body Looks and Feels
- Body: Medium height and build. Weight stays fairly steady.
- Skin: Warm, soft and often fair or reddish. Prone to rashes, acne and pimples.
- Hair: Soft, may grey early or thin out.
- Body heat: Feel hot easily, sweat a lot and dislike hot weather.
- Appetite: Strong digestion and sharp hunger. Missing a meal makes them irritable.
- Common problems: Acidity, heartburn, loose motions and burning sensations.
The Pitta Mind
Pitta people are intelligent, focused, and great at solving problems. They have sharp memory and like things clean and in order. Many are natural leaders, planners and hard workers.
When out of balance, they become critical, impatient, and angry. They push themselves too hard, fear failure, and can turn into workaholics. If no one else is around to criticise, they criticise themselves!
What Upsets Pitta?
Spicy food (chillies, black pepper), very sour food, fried and oily food, alcohol, smoking, too much sun, working near heat, and hot summer months.
How to Balance Pitta
Five Cooling Daily Habits
- Avoid too much heat. Stay out of strong afternoon sun.
- Eat cooling, non-spicy food. Rice, cucumber, sweet fruits, coconut and leafy greens suit you.
- Drink cool, not ice-cold, water. Coconut water is a great choice.
